He was demonstrating the power of Flash and how it would revolutionize the web. It took nearly a decade, but it happened. I would trust what he says about web video providing a new medium for creative expression. Creative being the key word here. Learn the basics, then reinvent the rest. I'm sure the first Crayola drawings you made when you were five-years-old (and just learning the medium) were pretty crappy in comparison. It's just that we didn't put them online and alongside exhibits at the Smithsonian. Play with it and make a lot of mistakes -- just don't put the mistakes on a production website.
