It’s long been my belief that the only thing missing from the DC social media marketplace was a strong effort from the government contracting community. While efforts like GovLoop and Chris Dorobek’s Insider have provided neutral views of this conversation, that community has never asserted itself publicly.
When Microsoft hired Mark Drapeau — a.k.a. Cheeky_Geeky on Twitter — the local community was abuzz. Perhaps it was time for a government technology provider to finally step to the fore.
And now it seems this hope may come to fruition. Soon, very soon, Microsoft will launch it’s Public: Sector blogging initiative spearheaded by Drapeau.
According to Mark Bisnow’s site, the new blog will be focused on conversation in the areas of American progress, technology innovation, and public service and public good. The site will feature numerous Microsoft writers, and eventually guest writers, and be aimed at an audience of young public sector leaders.
Good luck, Mark!
